St Marks Anglican Church – Manse / Rectory

The rectory was built adjoining the Anglican Church in 1907 on the same stand as the church.  It was occupied by the Anglican rector until 1939. When the parish of Wakkerstroom merged with Volksrust in that year the rector moved to Standerton and the building was sold to a local family who are unknown.

A couple who live in Johannesburg now own it and use it as a weekend home. It is currently named Endelea, and the entrance is from Loop Street.

The rear verandah has the original timber facias, and is built on a blouklip base plinth. The front verandah has been enclosed and a car port has been added. The house is in good condition and is one of the few houses in Wakkerstroom which faces East. An outstanding feature is the huge oak tree in the front of the house.
