The objective of this site is to meet the WNHA’s mandate of being custodian of information regarding the flora, fauna and environment of Wakkerstroom, including its human-influenced environment, and make this information available to the public at large. This includes all research on the natural environment, the built environment and the lived environment. Data that is found in this website has been collected, tabulated and curated by members of the WNHA committee and their associates.
Members of the public may add to this site under the following regulations. Any research, document or article must refer to subject matter within the town boundaries of Wakkerstroom. Criteria that must be met are:
- a signed agreement be received from the donor for the research, document or article to be considered for storage by a delegated custodian of the section under which the material is to be included, and the decision on authenticity of this to be made by this WNHA gate keeper
- the donor agrees that information stored may be used for further research
- the donor acknowledges the original source
- the donor agrees that no payment for research, document or article be made
- that priority of first, second and other allocations into IDP must be agreed upon
Much of what WNHA does is information based. To meet its mandate of being custodian of information regarding the flora, fauna and environment of Wakkerstroom (including its human- influenced environment) in as least onerous a fashion as possible; and to meet the expectation of a digital generation, a well thought- out digital information structure is needed.
Each item of research or each document / article that could be stored, must meet basic sound criteria, namely:
- Permission (signed agreement) is received for research, document/ article to be considered for storage.
- Information stored can be used for further research and linkage to, and acknowledgement of original source / data
- Any research, document/ article must be about subject matter within the town boundaries of Wakkerstroom
- Decision on authenticity of research, document / article must be made by gate keeper
- No payment for any research, document/ article can be made without approval of project committee
- Priority of first, second and other allocations into IDP must be agreed upon.
